Some Words

They don’t hurt

Not right away

They stick

And they stay

And soon

They burn away

Any thought

Any hope

They make you feel

Like a dope

And the person

Who spoke

Makes it worse

Makes you choke!

And you’re mad

And you’re sad

Not sure what to say

Or why you feel this way

And you need to move on

And you need to feel strong

But a bridge has snapped

And you’re not sure you can get back

But life will move on

Whether you’re here or gone

So pull them away

And remember today

That we’re all a little human

Even the best of us

Reminders

I’m okay with it

Being alone

On most days

It’s easier on my own

No constant reminders

Just me in the world

I can be just me

A strong, independent girl

But the world is full

There are people everywhere

Reminding me

That I do not make a pair

I’m on my own

And really that’s okay

I just wish I could live

Without feeling like a stray

These Hands

In these hands there is strength still
In these hands that I have held

They have held me in their turn
And prayed for me at night
They have cooked loving meals
And held me with so much might

In these hands there is strength still
In these hands that hold me now
They grip me close, holding me tight
As a voice calls out for me to stay
With eyes that ask me even more
And I wish I could but not today

In the moments

Those ever day moments

Passing us by

The big things

The little things

Ultimately out of our control

As we look for it

We search for it

And daily we yearn for it

Peace

Such peace

The knowing that it works out

For good

In the end

No matter what may come

The hardships

And even the joys

They all will come to it

In the end

We will find it

Through Him

The one who paid it all

So that one day

We can truly
